Dynamometer data comparison
8 curve slotted disc (FC type) and 6 straight slotted disc (FS type) were compared on a dynamometer (test code SAE J2522).
The charts below shows the friction comparison from 3 initial speeds (80, 120 and 160kph) with increasing foot pressure (10 to 80 bar).
Both FC type and FS type showed high friction μ from lower pressure (10 to 20 bar) with slight advantage to the FS type. As higher hydraulic pressure is applied, it was found that friction μ of the FC type was less prone to decrease (see the angle of green arrow).
From the result, it was shown that the FC type performs stable braking force even in the high load range.
FC type : Dynamometer circuit mode data comparison
The dynamometer circuit mode test was carried out to compare the new FC type (8 curved slots) with FS type (6 straight slots) and FP type (no slots). The graphs compare the average μ at four corners in each lap and it was confirmed that FC type has higher values than the other two types at any type of corners. FC type has high μ from early laps, and moreover the performance can be maintained over the latter laps.
Therefore FC type is suitable for a wide range of applications from time attack to endurance races.
